Welcome to Your Year in NASPA! This complimentary resource hub is designed to help NASPA Members new and returning to navigate and best utilize their NASPA Membership. It is our hope that this continually updated resource hub will provide you the tools you need in order to take full advantage of your Membership with us.
Section One: Your NASPA Membership
This beginning section provides you with basic knowledge and information about NASPA as a whole as well as your NASPA Membership. Use this section to better understand the organization as well as the benefits that come with your Membership. Whether you are new to NASPA or returning, this section will help keep you up to date on who we are and what we provide for you, your Institution, and the field of Higher Education as a whole.
Section Two: NASPA Involvement
This section is designed to provide Members with basic introductions to different Initiatives and opportunities within NASPA that come with their NASPA Membership. Meet key players in our organization to learn more about the many services we provide to you and your campus while also learning more about how you can get more involved with NASPA as a Member.
Section Three: NASPA Events
Last, this section focuses on and covers our NASPA Events, including how to take full advantage of the many in-person and virtual events that we offer. If you are interested in getting involved within our Events, this section has information on best practices when it comes to volunteering for and getting involved with NASPA Events as well.

Jessica Henault, MS (she/her) is NASPA’s program coordinator for the Culture of Respect Collective. Before joining NASPA, Jessica was Kansas State University’s first violence prevention specialist, where she developed and implemented a university-wide violence prevention plan. She is passionate about improving the safety and well-being of college campuses and holds a master’s degree in Counseling and Student Development. Currently, Jessica is a doctoral student at Kansas State University studying Prevention Sciences, focusing her research on the intersection of sexuality, sexual agency, and political resistance within erotic fanfiction.

Nancy Gonzalez Reyes is an EOP STEM Counselor and Academic Success Coach at UC Santa Cruz, where she supports students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds in navigating their academic journeys. With seven years of experience in both K–12 and higher education, Nancy is passionate about equity, access, and student empowerment. As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of immigrant parents, she is deeply committed to breaking down systemic barriers and fostering inclusive educational environments.
Nancy earned her B.A. in History and Education from UC Santa Cruz and recently completed her M.Ed. in Higher Education with a focus on Student Engagement at Pennsylvania State University. She strives to be a trusted resource and advocate for students, offering guidance and creating supportive spaces where they can thrive.

Warren Martin
Assistant Director of Peer Education Initiatives and Training Programs

Warren Martin serves as the Assistant Director of Peer Education Initiatives and Training Programs for the Health, Safety, and Well-being Initiatives team at NASPA. In his work, Warren oversees the Certified Peer Educator (CPE) training program and strives to advance Peer Education, with a keen focus on its integration into the holistic health, safety, and well-being strategic planning of educational institutions. As a former peer educator, Warren has a profound passion and unwavering belief in the transformative potential of this student development opportunity and it serves as a driving force in his mission to empower peer educators to bolster campus health and to build their leadership skills and capacity.

Monica Nixon, Ed.D.
Vice President, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Dr. Monica Nixon serves as Vice President for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Previously, she held diversity, equity, and inclusion and student affairs roles at Saint Joseph’s University, Seattle University, Colgate University, the University of Puget Sound, and the University of Virginia, for which she currently serves on the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Fund alumni board.
Monica received her Master of Arts in Counselor Education and her B.A. in English in 1995 from the University of Virginia. She earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington, where her dissertation focused on the positionality and agency of women of color chief diversity officers in higher education institutions. Monica co-authored a chapter in the 2012 NASPA-published book Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Higher Education and has served actively with NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, ACPA – College Student Educators International, and the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.

Amelia Parnell, Ph.D.
President

Dr. Amelia Parnell is an accomplished higher education executive and an internationally recognized thought leader regarding current issues and emerging trends in the field. She is a passionate advocate for higher education as a tool for personal advancement and impact, and she seeks opportunities to partner with organizations and individuals who share her sincere commitment to centering students' needs.
In her prior role as vice president for research and policy for NASPA, Dr. Parnell led many of the association's scholarly and advocacy-focused activities and fostered partnerships with college administrators, researchers, grant makers, and other higher education professionals.
As a frequent keynote speaker at national and regional conferences, Amelia presents on topics related to higher education, student affairs, college affordability, student learning outcomes, and institutions' use of data and analytics. She has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, and PBS NewsHour.
Amelia recently completed four years of service on the Board of Directors for EDUCAUSE, where she was Chair of the Finance & Investment Committee and the Audit Committee. She is also the past chair of the Higher Education Equity Network (HEEN), a collective impact network representing more than 25 organizations at the forefront of addressing racial equity in higher education.
Amelia enjoys opportunities to teach, and she is energized by making complex concepts easy to understand. She has had enriching engagements with students and peers as an adjunct instructor and lecturer and she is the author of the book, You Are a Data Person, which she wrote to encourage all higher education professionals to discover and embrace their unique data identity.
Amelia holds a Ph.D. in higher education from Florida State University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in business administration from Florida A & M University.

Kevin Willis serves as the Membership Manager at NASPA. Prior to starting with NASPA, Kevin has served on college campuses working in both Residence Life and Admissions/Campus Visits. Today Kevin serves with NASPA to assist in Membership questions/concerns and serves as the Staff Liaison for NASPA's Graduate Associate Program (GAP).
