Student Needs From Student Affairs Professionals – A Customer Service Model (Arabic)

MENASA Multaqas are one-hour member engagement sessions that create a space for student affairs professionals in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia area to engage and connect, and to build a culture of support, collaboration, innovation, research, and professional development.

This multaqa will be in presented in the Arabic language. Unfortunately, no translation will be provided.

The methods and foundations of providing customer service are constantly changing and intersect with many technologies and business sectors, which require more knowledge and skills in understanding the approach to managing and interacting with the Student Affairs sector with current and future students. This initiative aims to improve the best positive student relationships and experience, with a special focus on enhancing the reputation of the student affairs sector, the university, its services, and its employees alike by managing a teamwork that focuses on skills, clear and purposeful standards for the services provided, and a unique experience that meets their needs.

Work methods and relationships are constantly changing and intersect with many technologies, sectors, and cultures, which require more knowledge and skills in how to deal with situations and expected needs and the most effective ways to communicate and meet the needs of students, colleagues and business partners in order to be able to gain their trust and build long-term relationships that contribute to our success at personal and institutional level. During this training workshop, you will learn about many of these skills and guidelines that will help you to be a distinguished and more professional employee when dealing with situations and providing services during your work in the student affairs sector. It includes professional ways to explore and meet students’ needs and learn about ways to develop unconventional goals and standards built on clear and purposeful foundations related to the services we provide in the student affairs sector.

Yaser Abdulraheem Al Qawasmi

Mr. Yaser Alqwasmi has over 20 years of experience in the field of training and development. He  is currently the section head of Student "Clubs and Organizations at Qatar University.

Omneya Badr (Moderator)

Senior Academic Advisor

Qatar University

Since 2014, Omneya Badr holds the position of Senior Academic Advisor at Qatar University and was previously a faculty advisor at NYIT Bahrain. Badr holds an MBA from the University of Bath – UK, a Certificate of Business Operation from the Academy of Arts, California - USA & a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo - Egypt.  In addition, she recently acquired a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida - USA. She gained a culturally diverse experience working for over 20 years in USA, UK, Egypt, Bahrain and Qatar. Badr is a MENASA NASPA advisory board and part of MENASA professional development committee. In 2021, she was leading of the annual conference ‘programing” committee and in 2022, she was the conference co-chair. She held teaching and academic advising positions at NYIT Bahrain, BIBF Bahrain, and Qatar University. She has consultancy and training experience with several Institutions in Bahrain and Qatar. Her research interests include cultural based academic advising, branding higher education, cross-cultural communication, and education as a soft power.
