MENASA Multaqas are one-hour member engagement sessions that create a space for student affairs professionals in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia area to engage and connect, and to build a culture of support, collaboration, innovation, research, and professional development.
Join us to discuss the successful implementation of a Living Learning Community at the American University of Sharjah. In the Fall of 2023, AUS implemented the Green Living Learning Community (GLLC), in an attempt to bring student engagement and learning outside the formal classroom environment, which was concluded with great success. In this webinar, we will discuss the program and lessons learned.
Green Living Learning Community (GLLC) provides an immersive environment for students to formally and informally examine sustainability topics and the roles that they can play in addressing sustainability and climate change. This is primarily achieved through subject matter specialist-led discussion sessions and accompanying educational activities. Using the UN SDGs as a guide, the aim of the GLLC is to foster a culture of sustainability and climate action by increasing their understanding of the environmental, social, and economic impacts of individual actions, complimenting the formal classroom environment. Students engage in important discussions and relevant activities at AUS and in surrounding communities. With peer and mentor support, students are empowered to make informed, impactful choices and develop personal living habits.
