    As a peer education advisor, having access to mentorship, whether as a mentor or mentee, allows for you to continue to grow as a professional, and learn lessons along the way. Our February continuing education session will be facilitated by Dr. Shawnte' Elbert, and she will be discussing what mentorship is, and the ways to establish and sustain a mentorship relationship, along with why mentorship is important to the advancement of our field.

    Dr. Tyler Hodges, student affairs practitioner and researcher, will discuss community shared goal setting for disruption and allyship. Dr. Hodges’ research centers on leveraging Black Feminist Thought as a framework for the retention and holistic support of Black Women professionals at Predominantly White Institutions. She is passionate about cultivating a sense of belonging and connection for students and staff and excited to create a space to increase your skillset around allyship and action in your role as a peer education advisor.

    Dr. Tyler Hodges is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. She is passionate about cultivating a sense of belonging and connection for students and staff of color through workshops, training, and cocurricular programming. She has been an avid student affairs practitioner and community builder in a variety of functional areas such as Multicultural Affairs, Housing & Residential Life, Religious Life, Student Advising, Graduate Engagement, and Parent & Family Programs at institutions across the country. Dr. Hodges’ research area centers on leveraging Black Feminist Thought as a framework for the retention and holistic support of Black Women professionals at Predominantly White Institutions. Tyler is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, karaoke, and podcasting with her women empowerment organization, Sister Soul Glow!

    Join us for our July Continuing Education Session where Sexologist, Goody Howard, MSW, MPH hosts a session to help us examine sex positivity and how it often gets left out of the conversation regarding sexual health programming.

    We are excited to have Sexologist, Goody Howard, MSW, MPH host a session to help us examine sex positivity and how it often gets left out of the conversation regarding sexual health programming. We will have opportunities to offer sex positivity reframe on existing programming and messages to increase student engagement.

    Learning Outcomes:

    1. Compare and contrast sex positivity, sex neutrality, sex negativity.
    2. Identify sex positive gaps in existence peer education programming.
    3. Explore ways to engage overlooked populations in their sex positive programing.

    Goody Howard

    Goody Howard, MSW, MPH is your favorite sex educator's favorite sex educator. She shifts the culture forward by expanding society's understanding of sexuality & health. Goody has been connecting people to pleasure with confidence for over 17 years. When she's not teaching RIDEology or another one of her sexual skill-building classes, Goody walks the walk that DEI talks. She takes an intentional approach to sex, gender, orientation, and equity in collegiate and corporate spaces.
