This interactive session focuses on the elements of effective branding for emerging professionals and graduate students. The session will cover the three factors of creating an effective brand, networking with others both in person and online, and next steps for your brand using success stories and highlights from those in attendance.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Motivate rising leaders to recognize the importance of professional branding for advancing opportunities within their institutions, professional organizations, leadership experiences, and student support programs.
  • Build confidence for new and emerging professionals to overcome imposter syndrome and feel empowered as they prepare for upcoming programs and events in the academic year.
  • Develop a personalized “next steps for success” plan that includes strategies for strengthening your professional role and building a supportive network as you cultivate your personal brand.
  • Discover and refine your authentic voice to lead with confidence, applying authentic leadership strategies to your individual career journey in higher education.

Jack Nesmith is a proud Black First Generation student affairs professional from Jersey City, New Jersey. He has his Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey and Masters of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership/Higher Education from Rider University. Jack has 10+ years of experience as a public speaker, mentor, and leadership programs professional creating annual leadership workshops and programming for various organizations including NASPA, ACUI, EOF, and First Gen. He is the founder of the Project L.E.A.D. leadership series focusing on core skills for college students on a variety of topics during their undergraduate experiences. Jack has a lifelong passion for mentorship, student leadership programs, first generational student support programs, and professional development for undergraduate and graduate students.
