Samantha González

Samantha González, a Las Vegas native, earned a Bachelor's in Spanish and Linguistics from UCLA and a Master's in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins. As a first-generation college student, she faced cultural and financial challenges but found inspiration from faculty and staff of color. Now at Nevada State University, she aims to guide first-generation students. Since 2021, she's served as the Program Coordinator for the Nepantla Program, recruiting high school students for its annual summer bridge program and mentoring them. In her free time, Samantha enjoys caring for her dogs, playing video games, and reading.

Asiah Claiborne

Asiah Claiborne is a first-generation scholar and well-rounded student affairs professional whose work is driven by gratitude, community, and a commitment to lifelong personal and professional growth. Her work is deeply rooted to mentorship and her belief that meaningful connections and intentional support can transform journeys. She holds a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University and currently serves as the Director of Student Transition Programs at the University of Texas at Dallas. In this role, Asiah leads critical initiatives such as orientation, retention programs, and support for new students, transfer students, and their families.

Asiah is passionate about creating environments where individuals feel valued, supported, and connected. Her extensive experience spans across student life programming, alumni engagement, residential life, TRiO programs, peer mentoring, academic advising, career readiness, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
