NASPA Global Hour - Europe Edition: Professional Development in Student Affairs - Voices From the Field

Recorded On: 07/07/2026

NASPA Global Division presents the "Global Hour", an event inviting colleagues from around the globe to meet and attend an interactive presentation about global changes and shifts in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Attendees will have the chance to explore professional development resources and engagement opportunities with NASPA's global members and receive information about the professional development opportunities.

Student affairs and services in Europe is a profession in the making. Across the continent, practitioners working in residential colleges, universities, and student support services share a common mission — accompanying students through their academic, personal, and civic growth — yet operate in highly diverse national contexts, often without a shared professional vocabulary, formal training pathways, or recognised career structures. In this landscape, professional development is both a personal commitment and a structural necessity. It is what turns isolated practice into a profession, and what allows individuals working in very different institutions to recognise themselves as part of the same community.

The Global Hour – Europe brings together practitioners who have invested in their own development through international exchange, peer learning, and dedicated training opportunities. Through their voices, the session explores what professional development looks like in the European context today — and what it could become.
