There is no single pathway into a career in student affairs. Professionals enter and advance in the field through diverse educational experiences, professional roles, and career trajectories. Sponsored by the NASPA Faculty Council in recognition of Careers in Student Affairs Month, this webinar will explore the role of graduate education in preparing for and advancing a career in student affairs and higher education. Panelists will discuss the value of master’s and doctoral degrees, graduate certificates, and other educational opportunities while highlighting flexible pathways, including full- and part-time programs and online and in-person learning. Participants will be encouraged to consider educational options in relation to their career goals, professional development needs, and life circumstances. The session will also introduce NASPA’s Graduate Program Directory as a resource for exploring master’s and doctoral programs and identifying educational pathways into and through the profession.
