MENASA Multaqas are one-hour member engagement sessions that create a space for student affairs professionals in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia area to engage and connect, and to build a culture of support, collaboration, innovation, research, and professional development.
The MENASA Research Team invites student affairs and services professionals to a special Multaqa introducing its upcoming research initiatives. This session will introduce a new capacity-building workshop series designed to advance evidence-based practice and research across the MENASA region. The workshops aim to strengthen professional practice, encourage scholarly engagement, and create a vibrant community of inquiry dedicated to advancing student affairs in the MENASA region. Participants will gain insight into how research can inform daily professional practice in student affairs and contribute to a growing body of knowledge on student success, inclusion, and institutional development.
As we strengthen the practice of Student Affairs across the MENASA area, the need for research that informs and enhances our work has never been more pressing. The MENASA NASPA Research Team is launching a series of initiatives designed to strengthen research culture, support professional development, and foster regional collaboration. This Multaqa will introduce participants to the team’s upcoming MENASA Research Workshop Series, designed to strengthen research capacity among Student Affairs professionals in the region. The series will focus on building practical research competencies, ranging from the use of qualitative and quantitative tools to developing frameworks for assessing student affairs practice and impact. The sessions will encourage student affairs professionals to engage more deeply with research as a means of reflection, evaluation, and evidence-informed decision-making in their institutional contexts. The discussion will emphasize how these initiatives aim to bridge the gap between reflection and evidence in the work carried out by Student Affairs as well as encourage practitioners to engage in collaborative scholarship that highlights the unique experiences of students and institutions in the area.
Through this session, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the MENASA Research Team’s vision and how they can contribute to shaping a stronger, evidence-based Student Affairs community in the MENASA Area.
The session concludes with a call to the MENASA Community to sign up as facilitators or participants for the workshop series and suggest topics/themes that they would like to be covered through the series.
