2020 Regulations Training Certificate

The 2020 Title IX regulations promulgated by the Department of Education are now the law of the land nationwide and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Whether you are a seasoned or new professional, training on the 2020 regulatory mandates is required for Title IX coordinators, decision-makers, and investigators.

Institutions now must ensure adherence to the 2020 Title IX regulations, as the 2024 regulations were vacated by a federal court on January 9, 2025. A key piece of this compliance comes in the form of training—for Title IX coordinators, Title IX investigators, and Title IX decision-makers. NASPA is pleased to continue collaborating with Professor Peter Lake and other trusted Title IX experts in the field to provide comprehensive training tailored to each of these roles. In addition, this training is appropriate for student conduct administrators in order to learn how Title IX and student conduct policies may overlap and differ in important ways under the rules. This training program is a one-of-a-kind, individualized, hybrid online and synchronous learning experience designed to assist administrators in getting up to speed on all facets of the 2020 Title IX regulations.

The NASPA Title IX certificate program is a unique, individualized, asynchronous, and synchronous learning experience for personnel at post-secondary institutions. This course includes select updates from previous NASPA trainings on the 2020 regulations, and some modules are optional depending on your institution’s specific needs.

The training consists of three tracks: 1) Title IX Coordinators (including Deputies and Designees), 2) Title IX Decision-Makers (including for appeals)/Student Conduct Administrators, and 3) Title IX Investigators.

This training is delivered by trusted Title IX experts in the field, brought to you by NASPA. Lead trainer, Professor and Attorney Peter Lake, has been advising and training staff at colleges and universities on legal and regulatory mandates affecting institutions of higher education for over three decades.

Purchasing this Title IX training provides licensees with access to pre-recorded videos, live sessions, and training materials—PowerPoint slides and handouts. Title IX training participants shall ask, and NASPA will grant, permission to post the copyrighted training materials—PowerPoint slides and handouts, if any—to their institution's website in accordance with 34 C.F.R. § 1106.45(b)(10)(i)(D).

Training Track Details

The listings of video training modules included with each track are detailed below. These video modules can be viewed asynchronously in your own space and at your own pace. However, please be advised that once you start a module, you must complete that module. If you exit out of the module, you will have to start over at the beginning. Therefore, please note the module length before starting a module. Again, you will have to pass an assessment before completing the module. You must complete all video module assessments before you will receive a certificate for your training track. You will be given two attempts to complete the assessments successfully.

In addition to the pre-recorded video training modules, there are live training sessions offered on the dates below. The live training sessions will be used for skill-building exercises, small-group case studies, examining hot spot issues, and receiving Title IX-related updates. These live sessions are your chance to interact with the program instructors. Attendance is taken at the live sessions. However, if you cannot attend the live session(s) on the date(s) below, you will be given access to a video recording of the live session and you must watch the video in its entirety in order to receive your certificate.
